About this program

Promise 686 is a church-based care team model designed to surround foster families and at-risk families with consistent, meaningful support. While some support may feel transactional at first (like meals or practical help), the true mission is deeply relational, building lasting community around families who need it most.

It Starts With One “Yes”

Launching a Care Team in your church doesn’t require a large staff or a complicated structure. It simply takes one committed volunteer leader, someone willing to say “yes” to coordinating a team and championing support for families in their church and community.

With one faithful leader:

  • A team of six can be formed
  • A family can be supported
  • A culture of care can begin to grow
  • One “yes” can ripple outward into lasting impact.

The most important foundation of Care Teams is prayer. Prayer is not an afterthought, it is the forefront of what we do.

Before meals are delivered.
Before needs are met.
Before plans are made.
We pray.

Care Teams commit to:

  • Praying regularly for the family
  • Praying for wisdom in how to serve
  • Praying for protection and peace in the home
  • Praying for endurance for foster parents
  • Praying for restoration and healing

We believe practical support matters, but spiritual covering is essential.

We partner with local churches to form teams of approximately six individuals who commit to walking alongside one family.

Why six people?

Because when everyone carries a small portion of the responsibility, it creates:

  • Longevity for the team
  • Sustainable, long-term support
  • Consistency for the family
  • Shared ownership within the church

No one person carries the entire load, instead, the team reflects the beauty of the Body of Christ working together.

Meals & Connection

Care Teams typically begin by providing one meal per week for the family.

Meals create:

  • A practical way to ease stress
  • A natural rhythm of connection
  • A doorway into deeper relationship

After meals are established, we host a meet and greet, giving the team and family an opportunity to connect personally. As trust grows through weekly interaction, the team begins to understand the family’s unique needs.

Every family is different. Support is tailored to what is most helpful for them.

Care may include:

  • Mowing the lawn for a single mom
  • Transportation to school or sporting events
  • Childcare for short periods of time
  • Help during transitions or new placements
  • Encouragement, prayer, and friendship

The goal is not to “fix” a family. The goal is to stand beside them.

At its core, Promise 686 Care Teams are about:

  • Preventing isolation
  • Supporting foster families so they can continue saying “yes”
  • Stabilizing families who are at risk
  • Mobilizing the local church to serve tangibly
  • Creating belonging through community

Though the structure is organized, the heartbeat is relational  and it is sustained through prayer.
