John 1:5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

From Identified Need to Community Response

We are honored to serve as an implementing partner of CarePortal in St. Louis County and surrounding areas of Minnesota. Every day, caseworkers encounter urgent needs, whether they serve in child welfare, education, law enforcement, or community resource centers.

When a frontline professional identifies a need, CarePortal makes it possible for the community to respond quickly and effectively.

  1. A vetted professional submits the request through CarePortal.
  2. The request goes through an internal review and approval process within their organization.
  3. Once approved, the need is immediately shared with local churches and community responders.
  4. Churches, businesses, and individuals can respond in real time—often within hours.

It might be beds to prevent a child from entering foster care.

It might be groceries or a car seat.

It might be something small that prevents something devastating.

Together, we prevent the preventable.

CarePortal isn’t just about meeting physical needs. It’s about building relationships. Many families involved in child welfare are deeply isolated. They lack a support system. When the Church shows up, not just with resources, but with presence—something shifts.

CarePortal allows us to:

  • Do ministry across denominational lines
  • Cross racial and socioeconomic barriers
  • Mobilize generosity in our own backyard
  • Equip the local Church to be the hands and feet of Jesus at the point of care

Sometimes one church responds, sometimes multiple churches, businesses, and individuals collaborate. But every time, the community becomes more than enough for a child in need. Connection changes everything.

The Church Responding Right Where We Are

CarePortal creates a generosity supply chain that gets the right people involved at the right time, solving immediate needs that place families at risk. When the community is empowered to step in, neighbor to neighbor, we see families strengthened, children protected, and lives transformed. We are closer than ever to the ones who need our help.
